Socialise with Olaf
Olaf Olsen was born in Germany. A severe upbringing hindered any musical expression other than kingdomhall-singing, but his passion for music was undeniable.
Leaving his home and country at an early age Olaf traveled across Europe for some years.
He eventually settled down in paris where he finally starts to sing.
To get a solid base Olaf started to work on his voice in a classical way with Peggy Bouveret who teaches at the ‘Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique’.
With this foundation he turned back to his early love: The vocal Jazz of the mid fifties and sixties. Anita O’Day, Etta Jones, Carmen Mc Rae, Peggy Lee, Shirley Horn and singers like
Johny Hartman, Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett have been a steady comfort in his solitary wandering years.
Olaf got his first experience practicing jazz-singing with the well respected french jazz singer Anne Ducros. She introduced him to the legendary club the ‘Duc des Lombards’ where he made his debut as a vocal-soloist.
Soon Olaf traveled to New York to meet living Jazz legends like Sheila Jordan, Jay Clayton and Annie Ross. Working with these Masters, he developed his personal phrasing and his deep voice with a warm velvet feeling.
Currently Olaf Olsen is working on a recording. He interprets some obscure standards from Rodgers&Hart, Duke Ellington and Hoagy Carmichael and some more popular ones.
